Showtime

Things have been increasingly busy over the last couple of weeks, culminated by a full weekend of hosting dinner, a late holiday party, and catching up with some high school friends. Considering our weekends are normally filled with naps, couch time, and trips to the park with the dogs, this was something new for us. That might explain why Kelly is currently upstairs, eyes shut and curled in a ball, with Tater nestled comfortably behind her. I'm not sure who is snoring louder...

This was well deserved rest for my wonderwife who managed to help plan a huge company party, which required a 6 day work week, while managing to find an outfit that made her look pregnant and not fat (her words, not mine), and also cooking dinner for 7 on Friday night. Now, she had some help with dinner, but the hard stuff was on her. We topped off the weekend with a Sunday visit from Evan and Clara Maxwell and brunch at Kerbey Lane... delicious!!

The baby-related news these days is all good. Another checkup and more positive test results... strong heartbeat and healthy mama-to-be. Oh yeah, and we have some minor bumpage going on these days. I think Kelly started showing within the last 3 days. Seriously- she woke up one day and there it was. Before we went to the Convio party on Saturday she was getting dressed and said "Everything I wear makes me look pregnant!" I calmly explained that this was a good thing and reminded her that she is, indeed, pregnant. This, of course, was no help and reminded me that there is still no reasoning with a pregnant woman.

The bump didn't stop her from teaching me how to two-step and rocking out to a little Marvin Gaye at the party. We also took the opportunity to use the green screen for some truly odd pictures. I can honestly say I never imagined I'd be wearing a luchadore's mask and a sombrero and pointing a plastic rifle at my pregnant cowgirl-sheriff wife but I guess these things happen right? Riiiight...

Visitors

We were lucky to be able to spend a few days with family over the holidays- a welcome visit since we weren't able to get home to spend Christmas in Hudson. The dogs got to hang with one of their favorite cousins, Donkey, as Aunt Sonya headed to Paris for a couple weeks. His favorite past-times are wrestling with Tater and leaving "gifts" in random parts of the house. I think he was really in the holiday spirit this year.

Donkey and Tater (in order)

Bella likes to nap almost as much as me

Kelly and I got a visit from cousin Katie for a few days around New Years. We had a lot of fun, watched a lot of movies (Milk = good, Benjamin Button = bad), and Kelly enjoyed some well deserved downtime. Katie also reinforced my belief that it is impossible to reason with a pregnant woman, but it is very entertaining to watch someone else try. Thanks Kate!!

New Year's Eve... British style

The Cousins and Tater Butt

Chewie has been growing rapidly, to the point that Kelly literally gets growing pains as room is made for our "medium-shrimp sized" little nugget. I guess that's as much of an oxymoron as jumbo shrimp huh? Anyway, no doctors appointments as of late but Kelly is feeling better and having some time off certainly helps. The doc did say that shorter women tend to show earlier since there isn't as much room for the baby to go, so hopefully we'll have some "bump" pics soon. Until then... more Katie!!
